Hospice of Havasu Provides Compassionate End of Life Care

Hospice of Havasu provides compassionate comfort care to people with life-limiting illnesses and their families. Our goal is to help individuals live as fully as possible, to allow them to retain control over their health care decisions and to preserve their dignity.

We take a team approach to caring for our patients – physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, certified nurse assistants, pharmacists, bereavement staff and volunteers who are trained in end-of-life care work together to create a personalized plan of care. The patient and their loved ones are also integral members of the team.

Hospice of Havasu Services and Programs

As a not-for-profit organization, Hospice of Havasu puts all its profits and donations back into patient and community programs and services, such as grief support groups, individualized grief and caregiver counseling, the We Honor Veterans program to thank and recognize patients who have served our country, the Music & Memory program for patients living with dementia, and educational community workshops which cover topics like advance directives, wills, healthcare power of attorney, and how to organize important financial, legal, and medical documents.

Hospice of Havasu is Not-for-Profit

Hospice of Havasu is a 501(c)(3) organization, and the only not-for-profit hospice in our service area of the Lake Havasu City and Bullhead City region. What does this mean for our patients and community? We provide, at no cost:

  • Grief and caregiver support groups
  • Individual grief counseling
  • Community grief support
  • Comprehensive Resource Guides for seniors and those living with serious illness

Additionally, Hospice of Havasu will care for anyone who qualifies for hospice care, regardless of ability to pay. We are thankful to have the support of generous donors who support our work.

History

Hospice of Havasu was founded as a volunteer organization in the spring of 1982 by Rev. Barrie Gray after he and board members including Allen and Jean Lovejoy visited hospice agencies around the United States.

The agency was incorporated July 19, 1982 as a not-for-profit organization, and opened to serve patients in 1983. Hospice of Havasu helps those with life-limiting illnesses make the most of the time they have left.

Today, Hospice of Havasu operates from its home office in Lake Havasu City and a staff office in Fort Mohave. Above all, staff and volunteers are dedicated to the Hospice of Havasu mission statement: Providing Compassion and Care with Dignity.
